This game is one of the fun Toca Life series. It is designed for kids and school pupils with a large collection of characters and a wide selection of activities and locations. This game is available on both iOS and Android mobile devices and it’s cautiously designed to make sure there’s no inappropriate contents for its target players. That is to say, parents and educators don’t have to worry about likely presence of certain contents such as violence, suggestive language or smoking and drinking etc. It is well-tailored to cater to the needs of school children. Like other games in this Toca Life series, players enter their virtual play space and they would embrace an open ending in the end. This creates a lot more potentials and unexpected experience for players to explore. The game control and mechanism are quite easy to get a hold of. Kids move all kinds of objects and different characters around an area known as the after-school clubhouse. In this building, players can use the elevator to visit four themed floors which respectively feature four activities— painting, dancing, playing sports, or taking a nap, among many other things. There's an icon on the interface of the home screen which displays those fun weekly videos and some silly facts about those characters. What’s more, players can also record their own voices as they are moving objects around those locations on their Interface and saving their stories to the device. It can be done quite easily since all they need an access to is the microphone and the camera on their devices. In general, this game is very easy to play since it is not designed to be a “difficulty-charged” game; but rather it is light-heartedly designed with many entertaining and educational features. There are no scenes that are charged with scarceness or violence, no suggestive contents or nudity, nor is language by any chance to be offensive but rather humorous. Furthermore, this game can also be an interactive platform for parents and children. It is very family friendly and engages adults and kids together without any barriers. Players, particularly children, can easily try out some new interesting hobbies in a virtual way, with the support of the in-game activity set. Just like any other games in the Toca Life series, Toca Life: After School is not bond by any rules or limitations and rigid instructions. Instead, kids can simply and freely explore and discover as their hearts desire.
【Gamematch3's Review】
Although this game share some key features of its series, Toca Life: After School does seem to offer a couple of more interactive elements than some other titles in this same series. This game allows kids to do a lot of things including painting, creating music, handling a basketball through a hoop and keeping a track of points, or even sending a skateboarder down to a half pipe, just to name a few. These small opportunities make a big difference because they factually enhance the extracurricular events in the clubhouse to be more attractive and interactive. Admittedly, the fact that this game holds a virtual world where players don’t have the privilege of the otherwise limitless possibilities in a conventional realistic play. Therefore, this game can’t completely replace the day-to-day after-school activities kids participate. In those real events, children are not necessarily constrained by what the game developers and programers have pre-set into the gameplay. Other than that, for some players on certain devices, it might be occasionally difficult to control the tiny pieces on the game interface. This might be even more so for kids whose ability of control hasn’t been fully developed yet. Another nice touch of the game is the option for recording which is a fun way for kids to retell, save, and share their stories over time, with more people.
